I purchased the program(s) but did not receive an email with a username and password.
Check your spam folder, unfortunately our emails are sometimes filtered as spam. Try searching your inbox and spam folders for “Self Authoring”. If you cannot find the email, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org with your order information.
My username and password don’t work.
Make sure you are using the username and password that you were sent in your email when you made your purchase. Copy and paste the username and password into the login field. If you have changed your password, and no longer remember what you have changed it to, please send us an email with the username and order number and we will reset it to its original value.
Make sure you are attempting to login to the correct program. For example, you may have purchased “Future Authoring” and are trying to log in to “Past Authoring”. If you have purchased the “Self Authoring Suite”, you will be able to log in to any of the programs with your username and password.
I went back to continue writing and all of my work had disappeared!
First, make sure you have logged onto the correct program - you may have been writing in Future Authoring previously, and have just logged onto Past Authoring. Second, make sure you click Save or Next. Your work will not save if you have not pressed save or moved on from the section that you were working on, and we are not able to recover work that the program hasn’t committed to the database.
In what order should I write the programs?
Many people begin with the Present Authoring (virtues & faults), and then move on to either Past Authoring or Future Authoring. Some people are more inclined to immediately think about their futures, and some people are more inclined to better understand their pasts before planning ahead.
Can I download the program or write it offline?
At this time there is no option to download the Self Authoring programs and complete them offline. Some people choose to complete the program in a word-processor, or by hand, and put some filler text in the program.
Another thing to be aware of is that the programs are designed to keep track of your word count and to have time limits. This is to keep answers below a certain length, and so people don’t spend too much time on a particular answer.
Can I write the program in any language?
The programs are most effective when the writer is working in their most fluent language, so it is encouraged. However, we have been having difficulties with Cyrillic characters, so people writing in languages that use a different alphabet may run into trouble with our programs. If you wish to write in a language that uses special characters, please be sure to save your answers in a document as backup.
Does the program have an expiration after I purchase it?
The username and password never expire, so you can take as long as you’d like to complete the programs. Remember that you can return to your work at any time. You do not have to complete the programs in one sitting. In fact, sleeping between periods of work likely helps the process produce the changes in outlook and memory reorganization that it is designed to produce.
Approximately how long does a single program take?
Each program usually takes 4-5 hours, but we recommend you divide this time up over a 2 day period (completely one half the first day, and one half the second day) in order to start with a refreshed, and well-rested mind.
If you purchased the programs but did not receive an email with a username and password, please check your spam folder. Try searching for Self Authoring.
Always login to the program at Self Authoring home page under Login at the top right. You can login from any computer, including an iPad or any other tablet.
If you cannot move back or forward, there are two possibilities:
a. You have written too little.
b. You have written too much (NOTE: the program counts paragraph breaks as spaces. So if you have written 999/1000 characters, but have put more than two paragraph breaks in your text, you will not be able to use NEXT or PREVIOUS).
If you get stuck completely, logout, and log back in at the Self Authoring home page.
The exercises have limits so that you do not get stuck at any point, by writing too much, and become exhausted or frustrated.
If your username and password do not work: make sure you are using the username and password that you were sent, unless you have changed the password. Please copy and paste the username and password into the login field. The username cannot be replaced with a personalised username.
Make sure you click “next” or “save” before you logout of the program. Otherwise, the program does not know you have typed anything, and will not save the page you are working on.
PROJECT TAG ERROR: If you receive such an error, logout, and go to the Self Authoring home page and Login again.
